Taking a Break For a Bit

Hey there! :-) I just wanted to write a short post to say thank you to all of you who come here to read my blog. I really appreciate your comments and support. When I started blogging two and a half years ago, I had no idea of the path that this would all take. As I’ve written here before, I started this blog to change direction a bit in my life. I started writing here from a tough place in my life. I was nursing the residual physical ache of an injury and the emotional ache of grieving for my mom.

Blogging has been a wonderful creative outlet for me and helped rekindle my love of writing. It helped me to put my mind on other things besides how I was feeling at the time. And it went a long way in helping me not feel so isolated in this new land. I have made some connections with some wonderful people through blogging and I cherish those connections.

I’ve just passed the two and a half year mark in blogging. And I know that there are those out there who have been doing it a heck of a lot longer than I have and my hat’s off to them :-) Lately though, I’ve been fighting a serious case of blogging fatigue, so I’m going to take a little break from blogging for a month or so. I need to get away from it a bit and smell the roses as they say. I find that I struggle with writing here and I’m burnt out. I guess you can maybe tell by some of my posts ;-)

I’m going to take this time to reflect and come back hopefully with something new to say here :-) And I hope that I’ll have renewed passion about writing overall. It has been lacking a bit lately. All of my creativity seems to have run dry.

During my little break, Brit Boy may occasionally drop in to post here, as he is my favorite guest blogger :-) . I didn’t twist his arm or anything. He volunteered to steer the wheel around the Yellow House for a while ;-)

I know you can't hang around here forever, but I hope to see you all again when I return to this keyboard at the Yellow House.

Until next time… :-)

Take all the time you need Dori! Blogging fatigue happens to all of us at some time and it is best to give it a break when it does!

Yes Dori we all need to relax once in a while and gather our thoughts. enjoy your sojourn into self and come back refreshed. as you can see I am no longer in the dirty cardgame and I Feel SOOOOOOOOO Much Better. I suggest you give it a rest and find yourself some good blogging material instead. it will be much more enjoyable to get comments instead of drops in the bucket - trust me.

Just discovered you blog, will have to look through the archives. Thinking of someday moving to UK, reading every personal blog I can find on an American in England. If you have any blogger suggestions, please leave them in the comments at my blog.

It seems to be quite usual, as many bloggers say, to have creativity crisis when you are blogging for a time. Relax and enjoy your time Dori, I am sure you'll recover the passion and the creativity again and you'll find new things or fields to explore. Meanwhile we'll be here looking at the yellow house from time to time. Have a good time!

Hi Dori, I'm really going to miss you while you're taking a break! I've only been blogging for 7 months, and I hope my strategy of posting just once a week, on Friday morning, will help me prevent burnout. I know if I posted as frequently as you have and lots of other bloggers are, I wouldn't have lasted this long. You are amazing.

If I were there (and you know I would love to be over there) I'd bring you a tray of fairy cakes. I have dozens!

Enjoy your break!

All the best,
Jean

(my comment was garbled by typos, so I deleted it; here it is corrected)

Enjoy your time off and give yourself a well deserved rest. It could be a perfect opportunity for reassessing or for simply not thinking at all! lol The second has my vote!

Be well. Hope to see you again soon. :)

I so understand! I'be been taking breaks on and off since last summer. It's ok! I like to think of taking a break as a way for us to stop and listen within. That's where our directions comes from.

When a flower or veggie plant grows, it takes alot of energy to burst through the ground. I see you as taking some time to burst through! I can't wait to see your new blossom! We are to grow and to evolve!
